Security Printing & Alternative Solutions Conference in Zagreb
On the 26-27 January 2011 the Security Printing & Alternative Solutions Conference took place in Zagreb, Croatia and was focused on security issues across the region and highlighted the latest technologies and strategies. Among all exhibitors and sponsors, our company APIS Ltd. attended the conference as one of its exhibitors. Based on our own experience we can admitt that conference provided real value to all involved in the security printing industry and also we can confirm that conference was a great network opportunity to meet people from government authorities, state printers, national banks and industry experts.

New Danish Banknote to be released New Danish Banknote
The National Bank of Denmark will introduce a new 500-kroner banknote, the fourth note in a serious of five. As a prevention from counterfeiting, several new safety features are added to new banknote. Some chain stores don`t accept 100 and 200 euro banknotes in Czech Republic as Czech Television (CT) reported. The reason of not accepting is the fact, that a bigger quantity of forged euro banknotes appeared in Czech Republic around Christmas season. Read more ...



New Commemorative coin released in Canada Czech
The $50 Goddess of Victory coin was released to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first bank note issued by the Bank of Canada. The coin is a part of the "four coin program", which three of them are silver and one is a 5 ounce pure gold. 2012 - New series of banknotes in Israel Israel
The Bank of Israel plans to issue new series of banknotes in denominations of 20, 50, 100 and 200 shekel in 2012. Sri Lanka Sri Lanka`s new banknotes which are planned to be released in February, highlights celebration of Sri Lanka`s 60th anniversary. New 500-Hong Kong dollars in circulation
Hong Kong
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced that new series of 500-HK dollar banknotes was put into circulation on February 22. The new 500-HK dollar banknotes will be available for exchange at the three note issuing banks - Standart Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, and Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. The Security Features applied on the notes are for example Dynamic Colour-changing Pattern, Colour-changing Windowed Metallic Thread, Standardised Enhanced Watermark, Fluorescent See-through Pattern, Fluorescent Serial Number. St. Kitts - Nevis and its Biometric passport
Machine readable CARICOM passports launched in 2005, will be upgraded to biometric passports in St. Kitts-Nevis. The biometric passports which are currently being prepared, will be issued in the first quarter of this year for all citizens. For diplomats the biometric travel documents started to be issue in December of 2010 when the project began. Citizens can feel free to upgrade their passports into biometric passports, but don`t necessary need to as the CARICOM common passports still will be accepted. Read more ...

Likewise India and Mexico, Russia will adopt Universal ID Card from 2012. The Universal Electronic Card will replace all local, regional and national forms of ID and will help citizens to make electronic purchases. Electronic Card is supposed to cut down on fraud. German ID card German phenomenal ID card
New German ID card started to be issued in November last year. With its 128-kilobyte Smart MX chip is also protected with a PIN and its six-digit code. The ID card is readable only from four centimeters whilst other cards can be read from 8 to 10 centimeters. The fingerprint template is optional, if a citizen decide to use ID card for traveling to other counries, the fingerprint can be enrolled into ID card. The German ID card was created with privacy protection in mind and the country expects to issue 60 million cards over the next 10 years to replace existing paper documents. Read more...
