Russia plans to issue modified 500- and 5,000-ruble notes
The Central Bank recently announced the upgrade of 500 and 5000-ruble banknote, which will possess new protective security features. The new banknotes should appear in circulation in 2012.

New Zealand announced upgrading of banknotes
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand decided to update the look and quality of its banknotes, as a part of prevention of counterfeiting and to keep up with technology evolution. Updating will relate $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 notes, but there won´t be done any change to its coins. The earliest time of issuing notes will be year 2014. But its not known which denomination will be issued first.

Jersey gets £100 note for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee
A new £100 note will be issued in Jersey to mark Her Majesty the Queen´s Diamond Jubilee in 2012. The note will feature the holographic portrait of the Queen which was commissioned by Jersey Heritage Trust on behalf of the States of Jersey. Treasury and Resources Minister will need to ask the States to amend existing 1959 law which limits the maximum denomination of any currency note to £50.

Philippines reveals details about note production
After 25 years of using the same currency series, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas announced a total 702 million copies of the Philippine New Generation Currency has been already produced. We can look forward for new design, which pays honour to Filipinos who played significant roles at various moments of its history. The phassing out of present banknotes will be completed by 2012 - 2013, which will has after this date no value at all. We have to wait for coin redesigning as this is still in process.

Bangladesh issued new banknotes
Bangladesh Bank issued five denominations with the portrait of Bangaandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Banknotes and metal coins now in circulation will remain valid, alongside the new notes, which are printed on more durable paper mixed with synthetic fibre.

Bank of Sierra Leone informs the general public that older banknotes ceased to be legal tender after 15 August 2011 and in this regard, that special window shall be opened at Bank of Sierra Leone Headquarters.

Commemorative coins in Thailand
On the occassion of 84 birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, the Thai Treasury will issue a set of commemorative coins in the denominations of 50 Baht, 800 Baht and 16,000 Baht. There are expected commemorative banknotes to be issued aswell.

New Indonesian banknotes
Bank of Indonezia will soon issue new banknotes in denominations of Rp 20,000, Rp 50,000 and Rp 100,000 bills with upgraded security by using rainbow printing. The new banknotes should start to be printed by October at the latest.

Brunei new polymer banknotes
Brunei put into circulation new $1, $5 and $10 polymer banknotes, issued by the Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam to mark the 64th birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The issuance of the new polymer notes introduces eight new and advanced security features to combat counterfeits. New notes will be circulated side by side the present notes, which all will remain legal tender.
