  euro counterfeits50000 Euro counterfeits from Bulgaria
Greek police have apprehended two foreign nationals in Kilkis, northern Greece, on September 26, in possession of a large quantity of forged euro bills. The banknotes were reportedly printed in Bulgaria. The two suspects, aged 37 and 39, attempted  to sell undercover officers 50 000 euro worth of forged banknotes in exchange for 8250 euro in "real" money.  read more...

  China's respond to money fakes
The Ministry of Public Security will reopen a department to fight the growth of fake bank notes across the country. The ministry will also allocate 10 million yuan ($1.5 million) to fund major investigations into fake notes and provide rewards for tips and outstanding police officers. China launched the nationwide crackdown after a number of "highly-realistic" notes created panic in some cities early this year.

Cyprus's interior ministry expects to unveil a 3.2 million euro biometric passport project in 2010, reports the daily Phileleftheros.   Sudanese passportSudanese passports now permit travel to Israel
Changes in the new biometric passports issued by the Sudanese government indicate that a discriminatory phrase has been removed, making way for southern, and northern Sudanese citizens to finally travel to Israel without fear of invalidating their travel document. Algeria's launch of new biometric passports has been delayed until 2010, Interior Minister Noureddine Yazid Zerhouni announced at a press conference on September 21st. The later launch date was set because of administrative delays, according to local press reports. Trial runs of the new documents began in August 2009 in the capital city, and all citizens who hold an Algerian passport will have to switch to the biometric version by 2015. read more...
