Eesti Pank releases into circulation new 25-kroon and 500-kroon banknotes

The new 25-kroon and 500-kroon banknotes were put into circulation on 26th June 2008 and have the same design as the previous series issued in 2002. The new security features on the banknote are the signature of the Governor of Eesti Pank, Andres Lipstok, and the year of issue 2007. Also some changes to UV-protection has been made. All the 25-kroon and 500-kroon notes issued before the 2007 series will also remain in circulation as legal tender. ...read more



Macao to issue new banknotes for Beijing Olympic Games

The Bank of China, Macao Branch, plans to issue 4 million 20-Patacas banknotes in commemoration of the 29th Olympic Games that will be held in Beijing this August. Front of the banknote features Bank of China Building, the architecture representing the location of the torch relay of the ancient Olympic Games, as well as the emblem of the Beijing Olympic Games and a vertical line that reads "In Commemoration of the 29th Olympic Games" in both Chinese and Portuguese. Back of the banknote features Beijing Olympic Stadium (also known as the "Bird's Nest"), Macau's Golden Lotus symbol, and the same bi-lingual print as on the right hand side. Turkey to implement SAFE ID personalization system

SAFE ID Solutions, a leading provider of highly secure ID document solutions, has been awarded the supply of its latest manual personalization system, the MS 300, for Turkey. SAFE ID has been awarded the contract by the winning consortium of IRIS-KUNT who successfully bidded for the turnkey solution to implement the entire ePassport System for Turkey. The combination of benchmark performance and modular design within a highly secure process has convinced SAFE ID's partners to source the MS 300 system. New biometric access control system will measaure the weight

The Russian company ROSAN, which was founded in 1995 and works both in the Russian and international markets, is the system integrator of projects connected with identification documents, access control systems etc. Besides this, it produces plastic and paper cards of various types, including contactless smart cards and is one of the leaders of this market sector. SITA research reveals power of mobile

Research by SITA, specialist IT provider to the air transport industry, has revealed that the world's 3.2 billion mobile phones could be transformed into air travel tools within five years, and if used as passenger tracking devices could save airlines up to US$600 million on reducing flight delays. SITA says: As personal travel folders, mobile phones have the potential to hold boarding passes, baggage tracking information and payment data making travel truly paperless and location independent. France get ready for fingerprints

Atos Origin and Sagem Securite have been selected by France's National Secure Credential Agency (ANTS) to manage implementation and deployment of the biometric fingerprint-based passport system throughout France. Nearly 5,000 data acquisition and processing systems will be deployed in 2,000 French town halls and 350 prefectures and sub-prefectures before June 2009, making it possible to include fingerprints on passports. ...read more
